Plans of Twin Screw Steam Yacht Esperance

Twin Screw Steam Yacht Esperance was built in 1869 and is now part of the permanent collection of the Windermere Jetty (formerly the Windermere Steamboat Museum), in Windermere, Cumbria. Esperance was one of the primary inspirations for Captain Flint's Houseboat in Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons novels.

The plans themselves, reproduced below, were sold at the Windermere Steamboat Museum until 2006, and they intend to resume selling them in the future. Modelers please note: if you want to create a detailed model of Esperance you should obtain a set of the plans from the Museum, as many details aren't really visible in the online images.

The plans are originally copyright © Maritime Models 1980 and are reproduced by permission and courtesy of the Lakeland Arts Trust, the parent organization of the Windermere Jetty. The plans are scaled 1/4" to 1' and the originals are 18" x 28".
